Photography by Donna Kay

To the right, you will notice I have a list of my favorite blogs and Photography by Donna Kay is one! Yesterday, she came and did a photo shoot with Colin and she's so talented and wonderful that she's already posted some of them! So if you're on facebook, go to her page and like it! Also, you will be able to see some of the photos of our sweet, baby boy! Sunday, we are heading over to the beach for family photos. I can't wait to see how they turn out! Our first family photos! Colin's first time at the beach. Don't panic, it will be late in the evening as to avoid the summer heat that has already arrived!  Anywho, I had to brag about my talented cousin and show off what I believe is the absolute most beautiful baby. Man, that husband of mine has some mad skills! :)

The Story of Colin's Birth:

4 something am on May 3, Brendan woke me up for flashes. What were those flashes? A camera. He was snapping pictures of me asleep. Daddy to be was super excited to meet his son and could not wait to get to the hospital. He even snapped a photo of himself since I was not "happy" at 4 something am and he was. We got up, got dressed, made sure we had everything packed on my checklist, and then headed out around 5:40. He was in a panic thinking we were going to be late. The Dr. told us to get there between 5:30 and 6. I voted for 6. We got to the hospital at 6 and registered and I was in a room in no time. I changed and waited for the Dr. to come in to break my water and put in the internal monitors which were absolutely no fun. When we got there I was already having contractions that were very close together. Dr. Price came in who we were not expecting came in and did all of that. Like I said...no fun at all. I was monitored and so was Colin while we waited for the epidural.  Finally, I got the epidural! It helped a lot with the pain, but it made me sick so then I was given some medicine to help with that.  Which is why I was knocked out for most of my labor. Later on, the nurse who was absolutely wonderful came in and told me she was concerned about Colin's heart rate because it kept dropping after I had contractions when it should be going up. She said they would monitor it a little more and then we'd go from there.  Well, it kept doing that so I was put on oxygen.  I think it scared my mom to death as she was about to head out to get lunch but after that news, she stayed put.  Her eyes were glued to the monitors while I was sleeping away.  The oxygen helped. Dr. Lineback came in around lunch time and checked me and I was progressing very slowly and he said it was going to be a long afternoon.  Around 5 he came in to check me again and he said that Colin was too big and therefore we had to go to Plan B.  I was very upset about it but after being there all day, I was just anxious to see our son. Brendan was excited because that means it would be a matter of time before our son would be here.  It happened quickly! I was rolled out pretty quickly and taken to the operating room where I was prepped and then given more drugs.I was not out of it and completely aware of everything around me but of course, the drugs made me sick. Brendan was able to be beside me while we waited for Colin.  I looked at Brendan and told him "he's out!" It was like pressure was relieved. And then I heard the sweetest, sound: Our son's cry. I cried and cried when I heard him. Brendan was able to snap pictures! Colin was cleaned a bit and then brought to my face for me to see and love on him. Brendan then got to hold him and was wheeled out with him while I was getting all fixed up.  I then went to recovery while Colin got a bath and Brendan and Gigi were able to check out this new little blessing. I got sick in recovery. Around 9 something, Colin was brought to my room where I was able to hold him for the first time. Just thinking about the first time I held him makes me tear up all over again. It was an overwhelming feeling of such love. I felt like my heart was literally in my arms.

Sorry so long! Just wanted to share in case you wanted to know the birth story.  I should be on TLC. hehee  I have so many more pictures to share. I'm not sure when I will be able to upload them as I am on a Colin schedule.

39 weeks and my countdown is over

Exciting news today! Exciting, scary, amazing, wonderful, news.  Osama is no more!! Oh, you haven't heard?!  OKay, that's not REALLY the news that I am referring to. Although, how awesome is it to be an American?! I am so proud of our men and women who have served and continue to serve so that we are able to live freely.
The exciting, scary, amazing, and wonderful news is this well... On my part right now, mostly scary! On Brendan's part- mostly exciting!  We went to the doctor this morning to find out if I had progressed any and to find out THE DATE of when I would be induced.  Well, from Wednesday to today, we have made "significant progress" and therefore, I will be induced TOMORROW. Breathe, Jenn, Breathe!  The entire morning my stomach has been filled with knots which included my apple juice ending up in the porcelain bowl. Once Dr. Lineback said, "I see no reason why we should wait any more" my nerves stopped...I'm pretty sure my heart did too.  Just kidding. I was actually a little relieved. We finally have a date! No more waiting! I'm nervous but I know excitement and anxiety will overcome my nerves! Our son is about to be here!!
So tomorrow's plan is this: We arrive at the hospital between 5:30 am and 6 am.  I say 6, Brendan says we'll be there at 5. Crazy husband.  I told our dr. just make sure he is there with some good drugs. haha From there, I will get hooked up on IVs and my membranes will be ruptured...our term: they're going to break my water. From there I guess it's contractions, I hate you Brendan, a bunch of %$&#^ words coming out of my mouth. KIDDING. KIDDING!  Let's hope I am not a pain in the butt during this process. haha Just incase, say a prayer for our nurses and of course my husband. Our bags are packed except our toiletries which will be packed and loaded tonight.  My mom has her bags packed and loaded in her car...she's just waiting on 5:00. She'll be here tonight.  Dr. Lineback said that Colin is expected to be  here by tomorrow afternoon. He said if he's not here by the afternoon, we'll see about Plan B.  Plan B would be a Cesarean.  I'm estimating Colin to be at least 8 lbs considering a month ago he was almost 6lbs.  Brendan has made a list of people to txt once little man arrives with his weight, length, and time of birth.  If you're not sure you're on his list..make sure you txt him to let him know you want to know.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers that labor and delivery will go well and that our baby boy will be happy and healthy!
Just think...the next time I blog, Colin will be here!!
