Kicks

Just a quick update! I've got more to post later but for now I wanted to share about our son, the soccer player. :)   I felt a movement the Tuesday before Thanksgiving but didn't feel anything else until 2 weeks later and even then it was tiny.  So I was thinking, maybe I imagined it! BUT NOW, WOWIE!! Last week, our little one really started moving!  He is very active! It's insane.  Brendan was able to feel his little kick last night for the first time!  Pretty amazing! Even though this is the second week I've felt him kick, everytime is like the first.  He kicks mostly when I'm still. When I'm in bed or driving in the car. He is strong! We even saw my belly jump.  I'm just amazed! THIS little person is living inside of me. Ohhh, little one, How much we love you already!!!

Baby Talty Gender Reveal

The setup: In case you didn't read previous post. I had a pink ribbon and a blue ribbon around my belly. Brendan was behind me with the camera and everyone made their final guesses on whether they thought boy or girl! Brendan then pulled off the pink ribbon to leave the blue ribbon indicating that we were having a............BOY. :) If you look back at the reaction my mom had when we first told her we were pregnant, it looks pretty much the same. By the way, this is the restaurant that we ate at after Brendan proposed. :)

Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails

That's what little BOYs are made of!

So Brendan and the other 13 folks that voted BOY, get to say "I knew it!". Brendan really has said the entire time that we were going to have a boy.  This worried me since I was pretty convinced that we were having a girl that he would be disappointed if the Dr. said girl instead of boy.  So the first boy on my mom's side in 22 years! and The Talty Boys add another to the bunch. SO many BOYS on the Talty side.  I am so excited. WE are so excited!! We have started making a list of names that we like and of course the list with the most names was our girl list.  Last night we went out to dinner to reveal to our parents what Baby's gender was. Brendan videoed it so you'll have to come back. So this is a picture of my bump at 19 weeks 2 days. I feel like I just "popped" out the other day. I know that sounds crazy but we were in Wal Mart and I was wearing a sweatshirt and I just said whoa, did I come in here with this belly? Brendan said he didn't think so. haha So I'm officially definitely pregnant! I know I've been but now that I've "popped" and I can say HE, it's so much more realistic!! God is so miraculous!  This tiny little life will be here in a few short months!! Although it seems like a lifetime away, I know that time will go by entirely too quickly. A Boy! A Son!! Our Son!!! A little man!! Oh my word!! Let the planning and picking out and designing begin!!

I spoke with someone today about possibly keeping our SON while I work.  We have to set up a meeting, but she sounds wonderful and comes highly recommended so pray that things work out like they should!

HOUSE NEWS: Yesterday, we got an UPDATE that we are approved by the mortgage people and now it goes before ONE more person to get approved and then we are DONE. DONE DONE DONE!!!!!  Just in time to decorate a nursery!  Thank you all for your prayers! God is GOOD!  Hopefully, we can seal this deal before the new year arrives.  I can only imagine how fantastic Twenty Eleven will be and how our lives will change.

Tomorrow is our class Christmas Party! You can imagine my kiddo's excitement! My sweet, sweet babies! This week has been total chaos for me as they are just too exited for Christmas to arrive. I asked some of them what they wanted and it's precious to hear some of their answers.  Some of their answers were not toys but a bed or some clothes. A 4/5 year old!

I know I can go from one subject to another. I'm sorry! We are truly excited to share in our wonderful news with everyone! Baby Boy has been moving quite a bit! I'm finally feeling him squirm around! He did not want to cooperate in  showing us the "goods" during our ultrasound. He crossed his legs! Little Stinker! He also rubbed his little eyes as he must have been sleepy. I bet it is hard work growing organs and what not. I don't blame him for wanting to rest! :)    I'll take a picture of the ultrasound photo and post it on here soon as well as the video.

Tomorrow is the G-Day

Gender Day.  Hopefully, our little snukkums will participate and show us "the goods".  I am seriously so excited and cannot wait until the doctor says, "you were right!"  Just kidding!  I'm just excited to know! I honestly will be happy either way.  I thought at first that I really wanted a boy but then I feel like I'm having a girl and so I've become excited about the possibilities of hair bows and dresses. I mean, seriously, my nickname is Pris so a girl is divine to me.  On Brendan's side the boys out number the girls but on my side, the girls totally out number the boys.  My mom's side, Kevin who is 21.5 was the latest boy to come along. My aunt has 3 girls, my uncle 3, my cousin is having a girl, and another cousin had a girl. So a boy would be wonderful!  I'm not choosy as long as Baby is healthy and growing like he/she should be!

The last time I looked at the poll- 12 Boy and 10 Girl.  Gina and Megan were over here last night for a short few and Gina said she could go ahead and tell me what I was having- She said boy.  I'm carrying like a boy BUT the heart rate has definitely been girl material.  I know these are all old wives tales but I'm also gullible and believe everything.

Brendan seems to KNOW we're having a boy and I seem to THINK girl but I'm not positive.  We shall find out TOMORROW!  I am seriously so excited, I could throw up. How in the world our dear friends kept this until Baby came is amazing to me!

We are headed to Florence tomorrow evening for dinner with our parents to make the big reveal.  Say a small prayer for me.  As this is an exciting time, it's also a difficult time not being able to share this with my dad.  My very intelligent brother said to me, "He's not missing out on our lives, we're missing out on him being here."  Which is true.  He's around. I feel him when I'm peeling potatoes, or baking, or hear a cheesy joke, or see someone with a  goatee, or eating spaghetti, or when it's a windy day.  I just really miss him.

So don't expect to hear anything tomorrow but maybe Wednesday!!  Just wanted to share in my excitement! I'm 19 weeks pregnant today! 1 more week and we are halfway there!!

Not the week.

So maybe next week will be the week.  :(   It's hard to be optimistic at this point.  BUT just maybe a Christmas miracle will arrive! hehee.

I have been SOOOOO slack on Christmas shopping this year.  In fact, I haven't even started.  I usually pride myself in getting all of my shopping done early but this year, I've been a bum!  All I want to do is be lazy!  Even now, I'm thinking about a nap.  It's 4 in the afternoon.

Thanks to everyone who voted for their gender pick! If you clicked on the box- it didn't work.  You have to click on the link under the box.  Sorry! I'm not sure as to why it's like that.  As of today at 4, the votes were 11 think BOY and 10 say GIRL.  It's just too close!  My class voted that they think I'm having a girl.  One of my kiddos told me today that he really thinks it's a boy.  Almost everyday I get asked, "Is your baby here yet" or every time they see me eat "Is your baby hungry?"  When I was sick all of the time with morning sickness, I would suck on preggy pops and they would ask "Is that baby making you sick again?" Ahh, the precious  minds of 4 and 5 year olds!

Speaking of my kiddos, the flu is going around!! I've had several out with the case of the flu! Brendan and I have had our flu shots so I hope we're safe from getting that ickiness!  I now have a sore throat and a raw nose from blowing and rubbing too much.  My sweetums just cough all over the place no matter how many times I tell them to cough into their arm.  And WOW, I wish I could post a pic of their faces! You would not believe where they can get their runny noses! I'm talking about snot.  It's ALL over their little faces.  I'm amazed.  How in the world does it get on your forehead and ear?! YUCK.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!  It's been entirely too cold here in South Carolina this week.  Get this, one day next week it's supposed to be in the 60's and the very next day 36.   Tell me how in the world are we expected to stay healthy in weather like this?!

P.S.  Tuesday is the day when we should find out who is right about Baby Talty's gender!   I'm sure it will be ME!  :)

Our first buy for baby

A bassinet! We were pretty excited about our buy.
Say a prayer that this will be the week we know whether or not we have this house. We've been looking at baby furniture and with the upcoming announcement of the gender of our baby, I'm getting the itch to decorate. But also I would just love to be moved into this house before Christmas. Maybe this will be our week that the word wait doesn't exist! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!

Sick of the word, WAIT

So I guess you know what that means.  We've got to wait 2 more weeks until we find out boy or girl! AhHH, we expected that so our hopes were not too crushed.

However, the house situation is driving us insane!!!  I'm SICK of them telling us to wait and with Baby Talty on the way, this little mama is anxious to design and decorate a baby room. Plus, I'd really like to move where there is no one above us stomping until 11 at night and up at 4 in the morning.  My patience with them is wearing thin too.  Please say a little prayer that we will hear something SOON and I mean REAL SOON!

December has arrived and December will mark our halfway point for the arrival of our little one.  That is INSANE! Morning Sickness has FINALLY eased off! Woooooo Hooooo!  I'm able to actual enjoy pregnancy now.

Thanks for all the votes!  It's almost a tie!! You've still got time to vote if you haven't yet since we have to wait a little longer than we had hoped.

Hats or Bows?

It's time to vote and decide if you think Baby will be wearing ball caps or hairbows! Family and Friends, I want to know what you think!  I've got this awesome book that I recieved from this wayyyyyyy awesome person where I write down everyone's guess. So please make sure to comment your guess or Email me your guess!

As promised, a picture of the little bump to help you decide if you're one to guess on how I'm carrying. Please forgive the way I look. We were wild and crazy and stayed out pretty late the night before so I'm looking pretty rough!  I realize it's still quite early and my bump is not a big one ( although I swear it's HUGE!).  I've been self-concious about it since I started growing pretty early on. Still having a little morning sickness but thankfully I was able to enjoy Thanksgiving meal with Mom and then again with my in-laws!  It was so yummy and now I can't wait to eat at Christmas!

We go back to the doctor tomorrow and I'm going to beg to find out the sex but we're not hopeful that they'll let us seeing as to how it's not scheduled.  My mom's birthday is tomorrow and I just thought that would be an awesome present! Plus, I'm dieing to know!! So if we do not find out tomorrow then it'll be in 2 more weeks!  Crazy!! It's sooo crazy that I am almost half way through this pregnancy!

Okay happy voting and don't forget to tell me what you think so I can record it!

Second Baby Dream

I tell ya, one minute I think ohh, it's definitely a girl and then the next I'm thinking boy.  I just don't know!  After the last dream I had, I was convinced that we're having a girl!  BUT a new dream came one night this week that made me change my mind.  So I'm just going to TRY and quit analyzing dreams, cravings, how I'm carrying, Baby's heart rate, etc. etc. and just TRY REALLY REALLY hard to be patient until the Dr. says It's a ____.   I don't like Baby being called "it" so hopefully he'll say You're having a ______.

OKay so to the dream.  I dreamed that we had a jar where there was this baby in it.  NOT a real one, but one that grows just like the one in me but a much smaller version.  It was basically to see how our baby is developing.  This "jar baby" would grow the exact same way that our baby was and at the same rate. ( only a mini version).  If this doesn't make sense, I'm sorry.  It was a dream and I don't know how to explain what is in my noodle sometimes!  Anywho.  I was fed up with this guessing game about what we're having and I knew our baby had grown it's genitalia at this point so I decided to take the fake baby out of the jar to see what we were having and it showed that we were having a boy!  Crazy.

So if you were convinced girl because of my dream, this one may through you for a loop.  I will put up the gender poll soon so everyone can get their guess in!  Oh and my belly is getting harder! It's sooo weird! I haven't been sick this week!  Praise the good Lord!

Thankful

This year has definitely been both a wonderful and trying year.  I've experienced so much heartache but have also received so many blessings.  Thanksgiving is a time where we give thanks and so I just wanted to share what I am thankful for.

When my dad passed away, I received so much love, prayers and support from so many people.  I am so thankful and blessed for all of the kind words, prayers, and thoughts that were sent to me and my family.

I am so incredibly thankful for my husband.  He puts up with my crankiness, deals with my constant repeat of dinner(yakkin'), reads with me, and for his love and excitement over our little "bun in the oven". I am so thankful that he is already a concerned daddy!

I am thankful for my family- both old and new and wonderful friends.  Family and friends are so important and it is so important to make and cherish as many moments as you can with one another.  I am so blessed to have married into an amazing family!

My sweet, sweet kids who not only make my job fulfilling, but so much fun! Their personalities, hugs, I love yous, smiles, excitement to share any and everything, their ability to get along SO well with one another and love each other so much, and their little minds that just soak up information like a little sponge, for making me see the small victories and celebrate them like it's a holiday!  I love them!

A job!! I am so thankful for a job that I love with people that I love!

For God's hand in our lives. - For making this move to MB a smooth transition!

Thankful that we MAY have a house SOON!!!

And lastly, this goes truly without saying, but I am so amazingly thankful and blessed to be carrying a small life inside of me.  I'm thankful for Baby's heart beat, for making my belly grow, for making me sick, sick, sick because I hear that, that means Baby is healthy, For all of the excitement and love this is bringing to Brendan and I and our families.

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!

14 Week Check up

Brendan and I went to our 14 week appointment.  So far this pregnancy, I've only gained 3 pounds. I lost 1 lb and then in a month's time, I gained that 1lb back.  So all in all 3 lbs gained.  I refuse to stress over the whole weight gain issue. Or I should better say I am really going to try very hard not to stress over gaining weight, I mean really?! I am growing a person inside of me.

No ultra sound this time. Booooo! I was hoping Baby would be far back and we could barely hear like the last time but she found Baby quickly!  Heart beat was 154 bpm. Which is down from the whopping 170 bpm during our last appointment.  It's normal.  The nurse said Baby's heart beat was great!

We always go in with a list of questions.  I'm still sick and running out of my "miracle pills" which have proven not to be as much as a miracle as I had hoped.  Dinner time is especially difficult and I do have  a tendency to see my dinner twice if you catch my point!  Mornings are not so bad. After lunch is rough.  Basically, I'm scared to eat and have my belly get full.  Let's pray that things will ease up!  Brendan and I would greatly appreciate it as he's pretty tired of hearing me getting sick too!

We go back in 3 weeks for more blood work to get tested for all sorts of things with Baby. THEN the exciting news, we got back in 2 weeks ( total of 5 weeks from today), 1 WEEK before Christmas!!, to find out if Baby will be wearing baseball caps or hair bows!  Either way, Baby WILL have a matching something to go on their head with every outfit. :) So WE are extremely excited and anxious.  I've decided to post a poll on here to get everyone's opinion of what they think Baby will be.  I'll post baby bump pictures in case you want to judge based on that. Feel free to ask any questions!  I'll do this a little later though.

First Baby Dream
Last night, I had my first dream about Baby.  Baby came out being a GIRL and Brendan wanted to name her Carmex.  Yes, like the chap stick.  He also put her car seat in the front seat and smoked a cigarette with her in the car.  ( He doesn't smoke)  Then we were home and we needed to run somewhere.  So we did but we left Carmex at home because "well, she doesn't do anything but sleep anyways." Brendan's words not mine but I agreed.  We were not good parents to Baby Carmex in this dream.  Also, Carmex was a HUGE baby.  Ohhhh craziness!!

HOUSE NEWS
Brendan and I ventured out this past weekend and look at some houses and models.  Our frustration with waiting and waiting on this other house had gotten the best of us and we decided to start moving on.We did see a lot of possibilities!   Well, I say a lot but I really mean 2.  Yesterday we got SOME sort of answer on the house that we put a bid on and the answer was not WAIT but APPROVED and now it goes before someone else and then they approve it and WE CLOSE!  POSSIBLY as early as MONDAY.  Holy Moly!!  God is GOOD!!  Pray again that everything works out.  God has been so wonderful to us in our move here to MB and he continually blesses us.  I will keep you updated on that as we get updates.  It's just so incredibly nice NOT to hear "wait" anymore.  I pray that we don't get that again!

Halloween

So I've had this costume picked out before we were even thinking of babies!  I knew exactly what I wanted us to be when Halloween rolled around and IF we were pregnant.  Unfortunately, they've actually started making this costume but it was not nearly as good as ours.  Thanks to my AMAZING mother-in-law and PERFECTIONIST husband, our costume this year TOTALLY rocked.  It was also how we officially made the announcement.

In case you're scratching your head- I'm a bun in the oven and Brendan is a baker!  :)

Mom and Dad Talty's reaction to Baby Talty

I absolutely LOVE thier reaction!!

My Mom's reaction to Baby Talty

Let me explain because otherwise, she would not be happy with me! My Mom had come to lay out at the beach with me so she was dressed so for the occasion. And the last little bit that she was saying was "Ferrell's going to be a big brother". It takes a while to upload videos on youtube so stay tuned for the next reaction video! :)

K-I-S-S-I-N-G

So you may be wondering how we told our folks that we were pregnant.

We gave them a photo frame with 3 photos :

First with text

second with text

Third with text

If you know the old rhyme:

“Jenn and Brendan sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Jenn pushing the baby carriage.”

How I told Brendan.  Brendan kind of ruined it for me as he guessed it when I called and left him a panicked message to call me back as soon as possible.  At first, he thought something was wrong, then he figured it out without saying it because he knew I REALLY wanted to tell him in MY own way.  Which, my original plan I didn’t do because I honestly thought I had more time! I reacted and was just too excited!

So Brendan came in to this:

A New Name............

What?!  What does that mean??  A new name??!  Jenn, seriously!  Well, I got to thinking about  how many names I have had in my life time. Of course there was Jennifer.  When I was looking at my baby book, I noticed mom calling me "Jenny"  which yuck!, thanks to the movie Forest Gump and how much I was picked on with that name, I do not wish to ever be called "Jenny".   Then there is the name I mostly go by: Jenn.    Both my Dad and Mom called me Baby Girl.  Mom called me Pris mostly.  Nicknames of course.   Then as a teacher ( pre-marriage), I was Miss Cox.   And now I am Mrs. Talty. So you ask what is this new name you speak of in your title? Well, I'll tell you...............................

It's........ MOMMY!

Brendan and I are thrilled to announce that we are expecting a baby this May!!  We are beyond excited to share this news with everyone!  Keeping it a secret was so incredibly hard.  When you have incredible news, you just want to scream it and tell everyone you pass by regardless if you know them or not!!  We found out the first of September.  We announced it to my Mom when she came for a visit and then Brendan's parents on Grandparent's Day while we were visiting them.  Their reactions were videoed.  A bonus to look forward to when you come back to visit the blog.  :)

We have been to 3 doctor's appointments.  The first to verify that we are indeed pregnant. ( As if the 4 positive tests I took were not enough)  We did get an ultra sound then and Baby Talty looked like a little jumping bean!  (( It was the heart))  How amazing!! The 2nd to get blood work done and to listen for a heart beat.  And the 3rd to listen again and to see how much Baby has grown! Only cravings so far have been mashed potatoes or baked potatoes...I'm not sure if it's a craving or it's because it's light on my tummy. New craving: A1 Sauce.  In case you were wondering, I have been sick as a dog!  Luckily, I didn't have to go through it too long because the doctor gave me something that helped tremendously! I still feel nauseated a lot but at least I'm not afraid to leave 5 feet from the toilet anymore!  Heart burn has started to come in as well.  And of course I'm tired all of the time but HEY, you teach twenty 4 year olds each day and see if you're not tired at the day's end! :)  I usually don't make it past 9 pm anymore. This frustrates my husband.

Our First Ultra Sound at 6.5 weeks.  Basically a little blur! But that sweet little blur melted our hearts!!

We see a little head!! AND we heard Baby's heart beat.  Going strong at 165!! This was taken at 8 weeks 1 day!
Ultra Sound # 3. 10 weeks and 1 day. We went in to hear baby's heart beat but our sweet little one was too far back and so they had to listen to the heart beat through an ultra sound which I was just fine with getting another ultra sound! Heart Beat was 170!! It's always so amazing that each time we go and see our baby, Baby has doubled in size!  This appointment was especially wonderful because we were also able to see our baby MOVE!  Brendan videoed it.  Listen carefully, its right after Brendan goes "huh!"

Like I posted in a previous blog, Brendan is too cute for words!  He is very concerned and watches everything I eat/ drink/ do.  He reads with me so that WE know what is happening with my body and our baby. He is also awesome about taking me to dinner when I really want something such as A1 sauce. :)  He has attended every doctor's appointment and puts every appointment on the calendar.  If you can't tell that he's excited then you're insane!

I have a bump now!  It's CRAZY!! Everything I read says, "you probably are not showing just yet". Are you kidding me?! At 6 weeks, I struggled to button my britches! Now, going into the 2nd Trimester, you can imagine that maternity clothes are a must.  I'm not HUGE, but I have a bump and sleeping on my tummy has become a difficult task. Which is the only way that I generally sleep!  Go figure!

If this entry doesn't flow well, I am very sorry!  I started it in September and added to it after each Doctor's appointment and update.

Bragging on Brendan

So just incase we've JUST met, I am totally in love with my husband!  He is just the most wonderful person that I have ever known.  Can easily make me smile, laugh, and we have the best of times just by being together.  He was such the hero today for me.  As I mentioned in a previous entry, my class was going on a field trip.  Well, today was that day.  I also have morning duty on Wednesdays which made my morning all the more chaotic! I was trying to remember to get a bag and to bring the cooler and to leave on time and to find something to wear that was red ( It's Red Ribbon Week at school and today was OUTRAGEOUS RED!) anywho...so I completely forgot my lunch!  I called Brendan an HOUR before our bus was scheduled to leave for the pumpkin patch.  He said he couldn't help me out and y'all, I seriously about cried.  With my crazy morning, I just knew the gates were going to open with a flood!  It wasn't 2 minutes later, that he called me back and said he'd be there before we left.  And he was! Just in time too!  We were lining up to go out the door and get on the bus!  I simply wanted to brag on my husband.  He totally rocked today!!

The field trip was fun.  Wasn't really a pumpkin patch so I was a little disappointed and OH MY WORD!  It was HOTT!!  It was 88 out there!  It's the END of OCTOBER. Seriously!  We had fun but my kids were worn out!! We came back, took a nap, woke up, went home.  They were so confused because they thought we had skipped lunch since we didn't eat it in the cafeteria but at the "pumpkin patch"

Joining the rest of the world

Well, it's official: I have joined the rest of the techno world. Whatcha talkin 'bout Willis?  :)   A smart phone is what I'm talking 'bout!

Droid X and yes, it's pretty big but I like it.  If you check the post below, you will see that it was posted via my phone. Cool, right?  So that means I shouldn't be so slack with updates right? haha We shall see!  I do love that I can take a picture and post it immediately.  Blogger tends to be S-L-O-W when it comes to adding pictures!  I love my phone now but I'm sure when I receive my bill I won't love it as much!

In other news, Brendan is heading to Cola this weekend without his wifey!  It's okay.  He's got to work and I'm going to spend some time with my mom and my other mother, Gina.  I'm excited for them to come!  Mom is staying the night with me.  Hope Ferrell doesn't mess with her too much.  He sleeps in the bed with us and my mom is NOT a dog person.

Update on the house situation :  It's the same ol' ol' really.  We are WAITING and WAITING.  We wait each week to get the same report: "Wait some more".  Our patience is running out along with our  hope so please say a little prayer that we will know one way or the other soon!  You know how much I hated to leave our house in Cola and move into an apartment and I really want to be able to celebrate Christmas in "our home". The house seems to be going into foreclosure which should make the bank look at our offer and decide if they are going to take it or proceed with foreclosure.  We are obviously praying that they will TAKE it! So please, please keep us in your prayers that we will be patient and understanding! Especially moi!

Update on me: I've been SICK. I still am SICK. It stinks! So say a little prayer for me as well while you're at it, please!

Update on Brendan:  He is SO darn cute, it's ridiculous! I shall give examples in a later post...say around next week.   :)

Update on Ferrell:  Dog is killing us.  I know he's the cutest pup that there ever was but his breath is enough to fight demons away. It is AWFUL.  He can sit on the floor and I can sit on the couch and I still smell his stinkiness!  We may just being paying a visit to the Vet soon.

Update on my Kiddos:  In case you didn't notice, it was a full moon this week.  Anyone who does not believe that the moon has an effect on children obviously has never stepped into a classroom.  My kids were total crazies!  It's like all of the procedures that my assistant and I have worked so hard to teach them went out the window.  I had to put the "fear of God" in some of them. I kidddddddd!  I did have to be  a little meaner this week and I hate being mean! I always feel so guilty afterwards.  We go on a field trip next week! My first ever going to a pumpkin patch!  We are all pretty excited.

I think that's all for now! Can you believe that October came so quickly and now it is about to leave?! Wow, Thanksgiving and Christmas are too close! I'm especially excited about the Holidays this year!  My second as a Talty!

cutest pup ever

My Bestest is now a Mrs.

Since I was 4 years old, my best friend has been Jill.  We went to preschool together, lived across from one another, and were always at each other’s house playing/singing/dancing/performing!   This past Saturday was her wedding day and I was so honored to be a part of this special day.  She was the most beautiful bride!!  Her wedding, her dress, her hair…everything was just perfect!

When Jill and I were little, we were obsessed with the movie, Dirty Dancing. So much so that we would “dirty dance” in her dad’s garage.  You know the scene where Baby and Johnny are practicing the lift in the water?  Well, that was particularly our favorite!  We would pull up a bar stool and practice our lift with “Johnny the stool”.

Jill and I had a special dance during her reception to the song “ I’ve had the time of my life”.  Brendan videoed it. I didn’t get as many pictures as I would have liked because my camera died!

But Jill has picked a great guy to spend her life with.  He’s so funny and I can say with out a doubt that he loves my Jillian. He talks about her so sweetly!  I love them together and I am so excited for what the future holds!

Congratulations to my very best friend Mrs Jillian Poston!

Brendan had a great time as well!  He was SUCH the spotlight hog with all of his dancing.  This is not my fave pic of US but it’s a great one of him and he always says I pick good pics of me regardless of how he looks.  This is proof now that I do not do that!  :)

Kay-Bug and soccer meet.

Brendan and I surprised Kaleigh at her soccer game this past Saturday. It was really fun watching and cheering her on. She has just become a little athlete between softball and now soccer I would say that we have a little star on our hands! I always knew she would be a star! Next month she will be 10 and its so hard to believe that my bug is growing up. She is almost getting to the age where her jenn jenn is not cool. I am not looking forward to that one bit!!! On a huge note...exciting news for my alumni!!! Carolina Gamecocks have defeated# 1 Alabama by not 1 BUT 2 touchdowns!!!!!!! I am so glad to be a Gamecock!!!

Little Kev is ENGAGED….to be MARRIED

It’s still a little strange to say that!!  But you read correctly.  My little brother who is not so little anymore is engaged to his sweetheart, Aggie.  He’s still quite young!!!!  And so is she so they do plan to wait a bit before tying the knot!  She’s such a sweet girl and I am so happy for the new addition to the family.  I am so glad that they are being very smart and waiting until after they finish college.  She’s in nursing school now at Francis Marion and Kev is still working towards his degree and goal of being a radio star….I think you’d call them either a radio personality or DJ.  I’m not so sure.

He told me while at Great Grandma’s Birthday party that he had gotten a ring but had not planned on asking Aggie until January came.  ( The circus comes into town then and that was their first date….sweet idea, too bad he couldn’t stand it any longer and just had to pop the question! :)  Brendan and mine’s  first date…or well get together was at the fair..although I didn’t count it as a date because he didn’t pay a thing for me…punk)  So anywho..a week ago today, he proposed to Aggie and she of course said  YES!   Congratulations Aggie and Kevin!

The mouth of a 4 year old

I have to say, coming in, I did not know how I was going to feel about teaching twenty 4 year olds.  The teaching aspect  I find to be more challenging because the children know very little. I look at it as a blank canvas. haha  It's so exciting to teach colors and letters and watching them understand concepts.  I have to say though, I absolutely love listening to them talk.  They say some of the silliest things not knowing they are being silly.  It's funny how they don't understand that I have a first name or that I don't live at school.  There is a little boy with my maiden name in the class.  I told him that Cox used to be my last name and one of the kids stood up and asked, "Your name used to be Mrs. Talty Cox? They are also curious about my mommy. "Your mommy at work?"  "Is she going to pick you up?" I have one that asks me a billion questions a day. " Why you wear that, Mrs. Talty, Why you have a watch on, Why you eat that?"  I do make my students speak in complete sentences which is working out better than I thought it would.   I do correct them a lot. A lot of them have never been in a structured setting or a setting in general where they have to follow rules and procedures.  The first few weeks were hard on some of them as well as ME!  All the crying for mommy about drove me insane! But now they have totally fallen into routine and do so wonderfully!  I stress independence as much as possible and give the kids responsibilities in the classroom.  Putting their book bags away, making their lunch choice, classroom jobs, etc.   I told them Brendan loves cookies and now they refer to him as the Cookie Monster.   Anywho, this was just kind of a brag on how well my kids are doing!  I am very proud of them for learning so quickly.  4 year olds are so much fun to teach because they really want to learn!  Also, they are just so tiny and say the sweetest things.  I get "I love you's" every day!  What an awesome job I have!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

It’s not actually today but Wednesday, September 29.  I’m not sure how Wednesday is going to go for myself or my family.  I do ask that you keep us  in your thoughts and prayers as we remember him daily but especially on his Birthday.   It’s still so incredibly hard to believe and sometimes even to still deal with.  I use the words deal with because it’s dealt with almost on a daily basis coming to terms with everything.  Things have gotten better: I don’t cry as often or expect him to call as much as I used to but I still have my moments where it’s just not real to me.  It amazes me that I still look for  missed calls/texts/voicemails on my phone from him knowing that they are not going to be there but still expecting them.

So on this day, my dad gets to celebrate with the One who created him and I couldn’t imagine a more divine birthday party than the one my dad is having.  I love and miss him dearly!

Happy Birthday Papa Smurf!

Love always,

Your little Smurfette!

Can you tell that I love this kid?!

41093_1369099951299_1345710756_1628766_5758854_n

She’s a country girl all right!  Camouflage and all!  I can’t believe my Kay-Bug can hold a gun!!!  I still recall her being 3 and teaching her cartwheels  which by the way she has the best cartwheels of anyone I’ve ever seen. ( I take credit..hahah! I’m sure she perfected her cartwheels all on her own though!)  I saw this pic on her mom’s facebook page and had to share. Do you see how much I love this little lady?  Can you only imagine how I’ll be with my own?!

Great Grandma turns 91

How blessed I am to have had both of my GREAT grandmothers. I am continuously blessed  by having such a wonderful Christian, grandmother. She is so wonderful and has never spoken an ill word about anything!  ( to my ears, at least!  :)   )  Regardless, she is a wonderful person and I am so glad that this world has been blessed with her for 91 years!   I was just thinking, when Brendan and I have children- that will be 5 generations!  Great Grandma, Papa, Mama, Me, and then Little one. haha    How awesome would that be?!  This past Sunday, my mom planned a surprise birthday party.  Lots of fun!

Okay, on to the tons of pictures I stole.  For Christmas, I am asking for a really nice camera. :)  Someone point my dear husband in the right direction.

Surprise!!

Our little chaotic life

is great but busy!!  And I mean BUSY! It seems like we had not had a break since June to be honest! I need a vacation and this is only the 1st week of school!  So today was my first day with students!  Unfortunately, I wasn’t really with them today as I was pulling them aside and testing them.  This week, the kids are staggering in.  Today I had 8 kids, tomorrow I will have 6 , and then Friday  I’ll have 6 students.  Monday, I’ll have all 20.   This past Monday and Tuesday I did home visits to all of my students.  Let me just say how humbled I was to enter into some of these homes.  It truly makes you appreciate the things that you take for granted.  Some, really broke my heart.  I think making home visits were a fantastic idea although I was most definitely out of my comfort zone, I think it will make me a better teacher for my students to know where they come from.

My room is 95% ready.   Without the amazing help from my assistant, I would be at square one still.  She has been a blessing!  I really think I am going to love my new school and I already love my new students!!  Even though I am nervous about the grade level that I am teaching, I know that as long as I am having fun and loving what I’m doing, then those kids and I will be just A-okay!  I pray that I can be patient, understanding, challenging, and nurturing to my new group of preschoolers!

A finished kitchen

Just in time, right?  Who knew that in the beginning and in the midst of our kitchen project that we would  up and move?!  Certainly, we probably would not have started this project had we known that we were moving and we probably would have done things a little different with the kitchen had we stayed in Cola.  We had some expenses getting the house ready so we had to be wise with our moolah. However, the kitchen looks a lot better than before!  Take in mind, this picture is with an empty kitchen.

Ohh wait! I need a before and after!

Okay,  the picture doesn’t do justice. Sorry.  It stinks that I wasn’t smart enough to take all pictures from the same angle.  Ohhh well!

Keep us in your prayers as we are hoping to get into a house SOON!   We are excited and God has definitely been great to us! He has definitely had his hand on us!

Falling into place

Wow!  What a crazy month July and August have proven to be! I don’t think it will settle down really until September. I don’t want to say that though because I may just jinx it!  We have a full plate but it’s a wonderful plate to have!  Most of you know, for the past 2 years ( and I say 2 because I knew it was going to be difficult before moving to Columbia) I have been praying, applying, hoping, and praying, and praying for a job teaching again!  This past year not being able to teach has been very tough on me.  I always knew I loved teaching but until I couldn’t do it anymore did I realize that teaching is very much a part of who I am!

Last weekend, while Brendan and I were heading back to Columbia to fix some things around the house, I received a phone call.  It was a school!  In Horry county!  ( the county, we now reside in)  I was very excited, but didn’t want to get my hopes considering my luck!  I had a phone interview which I was kind of worried about, but then received another call requesting to meet me.  I met the principal and curriculum coordinator and they were just awesome!  I was offered the position and I cannot tell you how excited I am!  My name: Mrs. Talty will be used by precious 4 and 5 year olds!  I will be teaching Pre-K  along with 2 other teachers who I am very anxious to get to know better!   Thank you for your prayers as I have been travelling down this road!

It truly seems that MB is the place where God wants us to be.  Had I gotten a teaching job in Columbia and Brendan was offered this promotion, I would have been very reluctant to say “yes”.  It was all in God’s time. I’m amazed and astounded how things fall in place the way they are supposed to.  Brendan received a promotion, we moved, we put our house up, someone made an offer, we accepted, I find a job in a public school, closing date  is established.  It’s gone crazy fast and like I said, we have a full plate but it’s an awesome and a blessing to have this plate.  We are so thankful and blessed.  It just goes to show , what’s meant to be will be!

Okay, I splurged on myself just a tiny bit.  Isn’t it odd sometimes the things that excite one?  I went to Broadway and got me a congratulatory gift for myself. ha ha

lunchbox

That would be a lunch box with my name on it incase you were wondering.    I also purchased a new pad and pens but not to worry..they are plain.  :)
